How do I become a volunteer?

The Houston Aggie Volunteers is a group of local Aggies who share the same vision of making a positive impact in the Houston community.  The volunteers, made up of Aggies and friends, help assist non-profit organizations and charities.

Among the numerous opportunities the Houston Aggie Volunteers participate in, the group remains loyally committed to the Houston Food Bank, their BackPack Buddy Program, Habitat for Humanity, and placing flags and wreaths at Houston’s National Cemetery.

The volunteers have also helped other Houston charities including the M.D.Anderson Children’s Art Project, American Lung Association, Elves and More, Keep Houston Beautiful, Star of Hope Shelter, Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Jerry Lewis Telethon, the Museum of Fine Arts and many other groups.  In addition, a group of volunteers created the Caring Aggie Mentoring Program (C.A.M.P.), a long-term program to mentor third grade children through high school.  Volunteer opportunities are described in each newsletter and our club web site.

The Houston Aggie Volunteers are available to help worthy charitable organizations.  If you know of any group that needs such assistance, please contact Jim Thorpe ’78 at 713-249-4678.
